Throughout this course, you will learn to:

  • Work effectively and respectfully within the health and community services sector, collaborating with diverse individuals and teams.

  • Understand and apply legal and ethical frameworks relevant to care provision.

  • Recognise healthy body systems and respond appropriately to challenging behaviours.

  • Develop strong communication skills crucial for client interaction and professional collaboration.

Entry requirements

While there are generally no formal educational prerequisites for this qualification, prospective students typically need to:

  • Be 18 years of age or older (often a requirement for work placement).

  • Possess adequate Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) skills to successfully complete the course.

  • Undertake a mandatory National Police Check and/or NDIS Worker Screening Check.

  • Complete a Working with Children Check (if applicable to the chosen specialisation).

  • Meet any required immunization criteria, especially for practical placement.

To achieve the Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021), you must successfully complete a total of 15 units of competency. This comprises 9 core units and 6 elective units.

Practical Placement (Work Experience)
